Dr. Colin Hungerpiller is a consultant and staff pharmacist with PharmcareUSA where he specializes in the care of geriatric patients through clinical evaluations, interdisciplinary cooperation, and regulatory expertise. He is a native of Hartsville, South Carolina where he was a graduate of Hartsville High School’s International Baccalaureate Program and earned his Eagle Scout Award in 2014. Colin graduated from the University of South Carolina’s College of Pharmacy in 2019 with a B.S. in Pharmaceutical Science and his Doctor of Pharmacy degree in 2021. While in pharmacy school, Colin completed a dual-degree program with the Darla Moore School of Business where he graduated with a Master of Business Administration (MBA) in 2022. He is a 4th generation student of the University of South Carolina and proud to be part in this Hungerpiller family tradition spanning over a century.
During his time in pharmacy school, Colin served as the President of Phi Delta Chi Pharmacy Fraternity, as a College of Pharmacy Ambassador, and was selected for membership to the national pharmacy leadership society, Phi Lambda Sigma. He also participated in a research team that produced a “Top Student Research Poster” finalist at the American College of Clinical Pharmacy Annual Meeting in 2020 and was selected for publication as an “Editor’s Choice” article in 2022 by the Open Forum of Infectious Diseases. Upon graduating from pharmacy school, Colin was his class’s recipient of the VIATRIS Excellence in Pharmacy Award.
Outside of the College of Pharmacy while at Carolina, Colin served as President of Omicron Delta Kappa, President of Preston Residential College, staff of Pillars for Carolina, Russell House Advisory Board, New Student Union Steering Committee, and in various leadership roles through Student Government.
Upon graduating from pharmacy school, Colin returned to his hometown of Hartsville to begin his career. Since graduating, Colin has made it his mission to give back to his alma maters, community, and profession. In 2023, Colin followed his passion for public service and ran for City Council in Hartsville where he was elected to represent the residents of District 6. During his time on City Council, the City has invested in public recreation, updates to the local airport, obtained grant funding for new sidewalks throughout the City, and secured federal funding for new police vehicles and equipment. Ongoing projects include the expansion of Hartsville’s downtown, economic development, housing needs, and educational opportunities.
In addition to serving on Hartsville City Council, Colin is a member of the Board of Directors at Thomas Hart Academy (where he attended elementary and middle school), USC College of Pharmacy Alumni Board, Darlington County Opioid Recovery Act Funds Committee, South Carolina Pharmacy Association’s Standard of Care Task Force, and serves as Vice Chairman of the Darlington County Republican Party. He has also spent years volunteering with Boy Scouts of America through prior service as an Assistant Scoutmaster and Lodge Secretary Advisor for his lodge of Scouting’s national honor society, the Order of the Arrow. Colin has been honored with the Order of Arrow’s highest award, The Founders’ Award, and their highest membership honor, the Vigil Honor.
Colin is an avid fan of Gamecock athletics, having traveled across the Southeast watching football, men’s basketball, and women’s basketball. During the fall, he can be found in Williams-Brice Stadium sitting in the same seats his family has occupied for nearly 60 years. In his spare time, Colin enjoys spending time with family and friends while traveling, fishing, attending civic events, and cheering on the Hartsville High School Red Foxes.
Colin is honored to be in the 2026 cohort for the Gamecock35 and looks forward to continuing his career built on service to others which began at the University of South Carolina.
